Phuntsholing, also spelled as Phuentsholing is a border town in southern Bhutan and is the administrative seat of Chukha District. The town occupies parts of both Phuentsholing Gewog and Sampheling Gewog. Phuentsholing adjoins the Indian town of Jaigaon, and cross-border trade has resulted in a thriving local economy.

Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital, occupies a valley in the country’s western interior. In addition to being the government seat, the city is known for its Buddhist sites. The massive Tashichho Dzong is a fortified monastery and government palace with gold-leaf roofs. The Memorial Chorten, a whitewashed structure with a gold spire, is a revered Buddhist shrine dedicated to Bhutan’s third king, Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

Wangdue Phodrang District is a dzongkhag of central Bhutan. This is also the name of the dzong which dominates the district, and the name of the small market town outside the gates of the dzong.

Punakha is a town in the Himalayas of Bhutan. It’s known for the Punakha Dzong, a 17th-century fortress at the juncture of the Pho and Mo Chhu rivers. The fortress hosts the Punakha Tshechu, a religious festival featuring masked dances and music. In the surrounding Punakha Valley, temples include the fertility-focused Chimi Lhakhang and the hilltop Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten, which has river and mountain views.

Paro is a valley town in Bhutan, west of the capital, Thimphu. It is the site of the country’s only international airport and is also known for the many sacred sites in the area. North of town, the Taktsang Palphug (Tiger’s Nest) monastery clings to cliffs above the forested Paro Valley. Northwest of here are the remains of a defensive fortress, Drukgyel Dzong, dating from the 17th century.

Day 1: NJP Rly Station / IXB Airport to Phuentsholing

(Distance: 170 kms. / Driving Time: 5 hrs. / Altitude of Phuentsholing: 293 mts.)

Meet & Greet on arrival at NJP Railway Station / IXB Airport and transfer to Phuentsholing - The Gateway of Bhutan by Road from India. It is a thriving commercial center on the northern edge of the Indian Plains. On arrival check in at the hotel. Overnight stay at Phuentsholing.

Day 2: Phuentsholing-Thimphu (Distance: 176 kms. / Driving Time: 6 hrs. / Altitude of Thimphu: 2350 mts.

After Breakfast drive to Thimphu through Gedu, Chukha, and Chuzom before emerging ourselves into the only multi culture city in Bhutan. The drive from Phuentsholing to Thimphu goes across spectacular landscape with waterfalls, small villages and towns and with constantly changing vegetation.

Kharbandi Gompa- The Kharbandi Gompa monastery is located amongst garden of tropical plants and flowers. It was set up in 1967 by the Royal Grandmother, Ashi Phuntsho Choedron.

Zumja viewpoint- A short distance from Gedu is Jumja village at 2050m. Around a sharp bend is the huge Jumja slide that often wipes away the road during the monsoon, holding up traffic for days on end.

Water fall views- You can see super clean and amazing views of waterfall

Chuzom- Chuzom (Confluence) is the juncture of Thimphu river (Wang Chu) and Paro river (Pa Chhu). Chuzom is also a major road junction, with southwest road leading to Haa (79km), south road to Phuntsholing (141km) and northeast to Thimphu (30km). From Chuzom, the road follows Wangchu River upstream as you pass through villages and suburbs to the capital, Thimphu.

Explore Thimphu City- if time permits, walking through the city gives you immense joys and understanding of modern city. Good option for imported garments and local souvenir shopping, beside handicrafts. Best place to see mixed style of personalities taking the street walk in Thimphu- only city in the world without traffic lights. Overnight- in Thimphu, altitude 2400m.

Day 3: Thimphu Sightseeing

After Brekfast We will start our day for Thimphu Sightseeing, Thimphu is bustling little city is the main centre of commerce, religion and government in the country. Thimphu is the most modern city in Bhutan with an abundance of restaurants, internet cafes, nightclubs and shopping centres. However, it still retains its’ cultural identity and values amidst the signs of modernization.

Buddha Dordenma- The Buddha Dordenma is located atop a hill in Kuenselphodrang Nature Park and overlooks the Southern entrance to Thimphu Valley.

National Memorial Chorten- It is located close to the center of Thimphu city and is one of its most iconic monuments. Visitors will find elderly Bhutanese people circumambulating the Chorten throughout the day.The National Memorial Chorten was built in memory of Third Druk Gyalpo and is dedicated to World Peace.

Folk Heritage Museum-This museum was established in 2001 and provides visitors and tourists with fascinating insights into the Bhutanese material culture and way of life.

National Library- The National Library was established in 1967 to preserve ancient Dzongkha and Tibetan texts.

Authentic Bhutanese Crafts Bazaar- Bhutan’s first ever Craft Bazaar is now open in Bhutan’s capital Thimphu. It showcases wide range of authentic Bhutan-made art and craft products with reasonable price range.

Witnessing Archery Match- Archery is the national game of Bhutan, it is amazing to see Bhutanese archers hit dozens on the target from a 145 meters range. Overnight in Thimphu.

Day 4: Thimphu to Punakha Sightseeing (2.5 hrs drive)

After Brekfast We will start our journey towards Punakha- a very warm valley. Punakha Valley is one of Bhutan’s most scenic destinations, is the perfect place to awaken the nature lover. Take in the splendid views of the Himalayas, listen to the sounds of the Mo Chhu and Po Chhu rivers that simply soak up the serene beauty of this gorgeous valley.

Dochula- The pass is a popular location as it offers a stunning 360 degree panoramic view of the Himalayan mountain range. The view is especially scenic on clear, winter days with snowcapped mountains forming a majestic backdrop to the tranquility of the 108 chortens gracing the mountain pass.

Punakha Dzong- Built in 1637 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. The Dzong was named Druk Pungthang Dechen Phodrang (Palace of Great Happiness). Punakha is still the winter residence of Je-Khenpo religious head of Bhutan. King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck convened the first National Assembly here in 1952.   Overnight in Punakha, altitude 1350m.

Day 5: Punakha to Paro (4.5 hrs drive)

After breakfast, drive to Paro. This picturesque region in the kingdom is covered in fertile rice fields and has a beautiful, crystalline river meandering down the valley. Paro has more of historical sites, high-end tourist resort and many souvenir shops for shopping 

Chimi Lhakhang- The Temple, also known as “The Temple of Fertility” was built by Lama Drukpa Kuenley, “The Devine Mad Man”. 

Riverside- We will stop by the river side and enjoy, a good place to take picture

Paro Town- Later you can stroll around tiny Paro town and peep into local restaurant and handicraft stores

Enjoy Outdoor Activities- you get to enjoy wearing Bhutanese dress, enjoy shooting archery and playing dart.Evening at leisure & overnight in Paro, altitude 2200m

Day 6: Hike to Taktsang Monastery

Taktsang Lhakhang is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. This temple is one of the most holy sites in the kingdom and clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley. For those who cannot hike up, we will give optional visit to Chele La Pass- one of the highest road pass at 3988m. During clear weather, we can enjoy view of the most scared mountain in the country Mt. Jomolhari 7314m.Later drive back to Paro. Overnight in Paro

Day 8: Departure from Bhutan

After breakfast at the hotel, drive to the airport for onwards Journey,
